There was a desperate plea by Ian for some company for his mountain bike ride to Summerland.
Since the Hawk had vowed that he would not go all the way with Ian, JS decided he would go all the way. Personally, I confused the date and thought it was Ian’s birthday ride and there was beer to be had.
Well it seems that a bunch of other sometime mountain bikers didn’t want Ian on his lonesome so ten people showed up at the Fairview Bridge for the Shingle Creek excursion.
Seems Carl P. would have joined us but he was upset last time when people kept asking about his construction project!!!
For those of you who would like a spin on the mountain bike that is not technical then the Shingle Creek to Summerland is an awesome adventure.
We enjoyed the south wind carrying us through the sunshine and alpine meadows. Once we got to Summerland, the GRC took us onto the KVR Trans Canada Trail all the way down to just above the road to the Summerland golf course. We then headed passed Summerland Sweets on to the KVR back to Penticton.
The ride is about 50 kms and it took roughly 3 hours.
Oh yes Ian did talk about his injury and how he is going to go to Can Skate next season so he can stay out of the way of on coming forwards.
Back at the coffee shop, the F Troop who had an excellent road ride to Secrest and home joined us.
Next group ride is Wednesday. It is scheduled to be a road ride leaving Smith and Co at 9 am.
The Garmin record of the ride
